Class

Today we went to a child birth class. It was one of the ones that put 6 weeks of information into one day. The classes that they hold are on days that didn't work out for us and I knew it would be better for me to do it all at once rather than prolong it. Let me tell you, it was awesome! It has made me even more excited for this little girl to make her appearance into this world. I honestly can't wait!

The class was held at the hospital that my insurance covers and after being there today, I feel much more comfortable about delivering that. Not only that, I just found out that they will be opening a whole new wing for mothers and baby for after delivery stay. You get your own private room and it will come with things like you would get while staying in a suite. They are so nice and they will be virtually new when Skylar comes. So that I am looking forward to. The nursery is brand new as well and the little isolettes are pretty dang cool!

The instructor of the class was awesome. She knew what she was talking about and was full of information. She was all about making sure everyone was understanding and following along. It was nice to learn some of the breathing and relaxing techniques. It was also nice to learn about the effects that epidurals and other drugs have on you and the baby. While watching the video of a woman going through birth with no pain meds, I kept thinking to myself, "I don't think I could do that!!!" You never know though. When I go to my doctor appointment on Wednesday, I will be sure to talk to her more about things.

I am just elated. A little scared for the unknown when the contractions come, but so very excited when I think about the end result.

That's good that you feel better about delivering there now that you saw it :)
I can't believe you are so close to her being born now, it seems like yesterday when you posted the positive pregnancy test on here...

Yay for liking the new hospital!

And I don't know what effects epidurals have on babies, but I didn't choose to go without drugs, it just happened that way. It's doable. But I still want an epidural for my next baby. lol.

I had an epidural with both of my kids. I had to, that shit fucking HURTS! (And I was induced, so the pitocin made the contractions REALLY strong!) Anyways, both of my babies came out just fine, both scored very high on their apgar tests, and both kids were beautiful. Don't let them scare you out of an epidural. Let your body be your guide. Make your decision based on you, not on what anyone tells you to do.
